7 Days of FREE Growth Mindset Colouring Posters!

Hello fellow teachers, parents, counselors and the rest of you!

I've created a set of GROWTH MINDSET posters that you can print off and use in your classroom, office or at home!

Use them as

  • Journal entry topic

  • Brain break

  • Mindfulness

  • Discussion topic/story telling

  • Stress management

  • Or anything else you can imagine!

There are two sets (at the end of the post) - one with images ready to colour and one with just the quote and blank space to draw images.

Ideas for how to use the posters:

"THE CAVE I FEAR TO ENTER HOLDS THE TREASURE I SEEK"

Why I like this quote:

We often fear moving out of our comfort zone. We make the most growth when we are out of our comfort zone. It pushes us to learn something new. Of course, it's important to manage risk and safety and one of the ways I calculate that is whether the reward would be worth the risk! This quote is great because it gives a good visual of us moving into the unknown, the scary, the uncomfortable, in order to grow.

Use this quote to discuss:

Visualization (What's the treasure you seek).

Fear (What's holding you back?)

Goal setting (What's the first step to enter?)

Comfort zone

"MISTAKES ARE PROOF THAT I AM TRYING"

Why I like this quote:

Our brains are so absolutely incredible that I am often amazing when I learn new things about the brain. When I was teaching grade 2/3 I taught my students key things about neuroscience that I believe are extremely important to know. I've always thought of the "we learn from our mistakes" only important because we make corrections to our errors and therefor mistakes are useful for learning. But....DID YOU KNOW that your brain is actually growing whether or not you even made a mistake?!?! Yeah, for real! Synapses (the electrical signals that move through your brain when learning occurs) are actually firing during when you make a mistakes. COOL! If you want to learn more, click here or here.

Use this quote to discuss:

Emotions (Guilt, shame or other emotions related to making mistakes)

Mistakes are natural and important

"I HAVENT FAILED UNTIL I QUIT TRYING"

Why I like this quote:

It's easy to fall into the fear of failure before you even start. It's really easy to give up when something gets hard. It's easier to quit and feel like a failure instead of working hard to succeed. Even when things are hard there is always going to be another solution. It just might take some time and effort to find it. You can ask for help, try a different method, speak to experts, encourage yourself to keep going, set small goals, etc. As long as you are trying you are doing. And doing is the opposite of failing.

Use this quote to discuss:

Success stories (What have you been successful in even though it was really hard?)

Effort (What area's of your life do you need to try harder?)

Asking for help (Who do I know that could help me succeed?)

"I AM NOT AFRAID OF STORMS FOR I AM LEARNING TO SAIL MY SHIP"

Why I like this quote:

I like this quote because it shows that we are still in the process of learning. Metaphorical storms come and go in our lives and it's important to recognize that we will always be learning new techniques to manage the rough times. It also shows that we have to "roll with the punches" and sometimes need to take action during the crisis.

Use this quote to discuss:

Obstacles (What is in your way?)

Getting out of a bad situation

Making decisions (How can you manage emotions well enough to be able to make smart decisions during a crisis?)

"I CHOOSE TO BE HAPPY"

Why I like this quote:

We have the power to choose our own thoughts. Our thoughts change our emotions and our emotions change our actions. Basically, our thoughts, feelings and actions are all related to each other and work together.

To watch an excellent video describing this idea click here.

Use this quote to discuss:

Thoughts (What thoughts do you repeat in your mind?)

Habits (Thoughts, feeling and actions can become habits)

Choice (What do you chose to think, feel and do?)

"I DON'T STRESS I JUST DO MY BEST"

Why I like this quote:

I was always taught that I just needed to do my best when I was growing up. The problem for me was that I was comparing my best to other peoples' bests. If I didn't do things that were as good as them, as fast as them or as nice as them, I wouldn't feel good about myself. For example, if you run a race and pushed as hard as you could and your final time was 5 minutes. You should celebrate that you tried your best. Next time, you strive for your personal best and try to aim for any time under 5 minutes. The point is, you push yourself to your limits - not someone else's.

Use this quote to discuss:

Comparing (Do you compare yourself to others or to yourself?)

Visualize (What does your best look like?)

Setting goals (Are your goals attainable yet still require effort?)

Celebrate self (What do you do to celebrate your effort?)

Stress (What steps will you take to manage your stress?)

"I'M NOT AFRAID TO LET THE WORLD SEE ME SHINE BRIGHTLY"

Why I like this quote:

You are amazing simply because you are you. There is no other person in the entire world that can do something exactly the same way as you. You are unique and special and that is what makes you so awesome! Use the gifts you have to share with the world!

Use this quote to discuss:

Gifts (What is one thing you love about yourself? What makes you special? What is your gift?)

Shine (If you weren't worried about what other people think, what who would you be?)
